Plain and honest
Privacy
When you submit a tip
Your tip is sent to the family and may be shared with investigators. If you choose to submit anonymously, no name or contact details are collected. If you provide them, they are held privately, shared only with investigators, and never published.
Like virtually every website, our server records standard technical request information when a tip is sent, including IP address, browser, and approximate location derived from the network connection. This is ordinary for any tip line and helps assess where information is coming from. It is not published.
When you follow the case
If you give us your email to follow the case, we use it only to send updates about Alysha’s case and this project. We don’t sell it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Pages we monitor
Because this is an active missing-persons investigation, visits to the case-updates pages are logged on our server: the time, approximate location, and technical details of each request. This is a normal and deliberate part of running the case. It helps us understand who is following developments and, occasionally, notice activity worth a closer look. We do not use this to identify ordinary visitors, and we never sell or share it for advertising.
The public board
When you post to the board, your message is public: everyone can read it, so please don’t include anything you wouldn’t want seen. As with the tip line, our server records standard request information (IP address, browser, approximate location) for each post; this is kept private and is never shown on the board. Posts containing links, contact details, or abusive wording are held for review before appearing, and the family may remove any post.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages help most. These are counts and trends, not profiles of individuals.
Questions
If you have any question about how your information is handled, you can reach the family through the tip line. We will answer honestly.
